IRKUTSK – the capital city of Eastern Siberia, its cultural and economic centre. The official date of its foundation is 6th July, 1661. The population of the city amounts to about 600 000.
Irkutsk is famous for its close vicinity to the enigmatic lake Baikal, the pearl of Siberia. The wooden architecture in the historical centre dating back to mainly the latter half of the 19th century attracts a lot of tourists to the city yearly.
Irkutsk region is rich in natural resources and has got lots of mineral deposits as well as developed mining industry. Various resources are extracted in the region, such as brown and black coal, iron ore, gold, rock salt, oil, gas, cement and facing materials and others.
International Society for Mine Surveying has been organizing international congresses every three years since 1969.
International Society for Mine Surveying (ISM) is an association uniting professionals specializing in mining, mine surveying and geodetic spheres.
ISM is an independent international nongovernmental organization of C category. (MUTUAL COMMUNICATORY RELATIONS) according to the letter of UNESCO Director general of 22nd June, 1977.
The main objective – promotion of cooperation in different spheres of mine surveying and geodesy by means:
INRTU – the history of INRTU dates back to 1930. It is the easternmost higher educational establishment among the 29 national research universities in Russia. The university is rightfully considered as one of the best in training highly-qualified specialists for the economy of the region. It consists of 10 institutes and 5 faculties. The total number of students of all modes of study exceeds 22000 people from different parts of Russia and 23 foreign countries. INRTU has its own technopark, a large scientific laboratory and a business incubator.
The training of engineers-mine surveyors and geodesists takes place at the Department of Mine Surveying and Geodesy of the Subsoil Management Institute.
The Department of Mine Surveying and Geodesy is headed by the President of the International Society for Mine Surveying, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor Anatoly Leontievich Okhotin.
Baikal Business Centre was chosen for holding the events of the Congress which are to take place from 28th till 29th September, 2019 in the city of Irkutsk, Russia.
Baikal Business Centre is a place with all the facilities for conducting seminars, conferences, workshops, exhibitions and training courses.
